Active School Launch – Meet our Active School Agents

This month we are launching our Active School Flag. The Flag is a symbol of a physically active school, supported by a physically active community and our aim is to encourage the children to be more active more often.
We have a busy year planned ahead and we hope to have our Active Flag flying high by the end of the school year.
Our School Active School Agents are:
6th Class – Brónagh Brady
6th Class – James Pereira
5th Class – Caoimhe Noone
4th Class – Stephen Higgins
Competition Time
We asked our pupils to get involved and create a poster and slogan that can be used throughout the school. Well done to all who participated. It really was a challenge, to pick a winner from each room as the standard was outstanding.
The winner in the Junior Room is Séan Moroney
The winner in the Senior Room is: Jason O’ Brien
The winning slogan is…..
STAY ACTIVE, STAY FIT, DON’T BE ACTIVE,DON’T SIT
Our Active Agents Roles and Responsibilities
– Promote a positive attitude to being active. Lead by example.
– Attend committee meetings and learn how to hold a meeting.
-Inform class of decisions and upcoming events
-P.E. equipment monitors
-Organise events and challenges
Cycling
During the good weather in April, some of the Senior Room have decided to get energised in the morning by cycling to school. In S.P.H.E lessons, we learned about cycling safely on our rural roads. We discussed the rules of the road and how to stay safe while riding a bike.
Santa Dash
The whole school took part in a Santa Dash run for Active School. We walked /ran from the school to the G.A.A. pitch. We all dressed up in our festive attire. Great fun was had by all and we raised funds for St. Vincent de Paul in the process.
Clare Sport’s Partnership
Thanks to Clare Sport’s Partnership for their use of their playground stencils. Our school yard looks so colourful with the addition of all these fun activities to include hopscotch, twister Maths games etc.
What Clubs are you in Survey?
The Active School Committee conducted a tally of the clubs which the students attend in the locality.
